On Sunday, April 12, we were visited by the Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador, Otto Sonnenholzner and the Minister of Public Health Dr. Juan Carlos Zevallos.
The government officials had the opportunity to see our prototype respirator, the same one that is being tested with an artificial lung and has been operating for the last five days.
Members of the Openventi development team showed the respirator’s functions to our visitors, as well as carried out real-time tests while applying changes to operating parameters.
Our Openventi prototype is ready! Now, it must pass the next stage in testing, one that will require official certification to operate once it is mass-produced.
With regards to the certification and aware that an emergency requires quick and effective actions without compromising safety, visiting officials committed to providing all possible support to facilitate the validation of the device’s functionality. It will be evaluated by a high-level technical committee with the end goal to allow the respirator to operate in the different hospitals where it is needed.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Sonnenholzner greeted the team that makes up this great project called Openventi, thanking them for their selfless participation in creating this vital instrument to save lives.
We hope to continue being engaged with the public in general and having everyone’s support. To help us in our fundraising efforts, click on the following link: Crowdfunding.
